Editorial policy
Local Weekend Journal aims to make thoughtful, dependable reading about neighbourhoods and the details of local place. We explain what we know, avoid presenting guesses as facts and correct errors openly.
Accuracy and care
We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable information before publication. Where an interpretation is involved, we make that clear rather than presenting it as settled fact. We take care not to imply that one account speaks for every person who lives in a place.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to satisfy a partner. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable view, and editorial material is kept distinct from paid collaboration.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us through the Contact page and include the article title and the point in question. We review credible corrections and amend material when needed, making the change clear where the correction affects a reader's understanding.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid placements and partner material are identified clearly so readers can tell how a piece came to be published. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where used, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary images.
A place is more than its map
We believe the best way to get to know a neighbourhood is to pay attention to the details: where people pause, what gets a name, and how shared places are used.
